About the Project:

The Southern Religious and Traditional Leaders Engagement Project aims to collaborate with traditional leaders to drive community development, health initiatives, and peacebuilding efforts. This project focuses on engaging these leaders to address critical social issues such as maternal and child health, education, polio eradication, and conflict resolution.

Position Summary:
We are seeking dynamic State Leads to implement project activities in Osun, Ondo, Cross River, Delta, Abia ,Enugu, Lagos and Ekiti state. The State Lead will work closely with traditional leaders, government officials, and community stakeholders to ensure project success. This role requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, and the ability to execute culturally appropriate activities that meet the project’s objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with traditional leaders, local government officials, and community influencers within the state.
  • Project Implementation: Lead state-level activities, ensuring they align with local needs and broader project goals.
  • Capacity Building: Organize workshops and provide guidance to traditional leaders on health promotion, peacebuilding, and community development.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Track project progress, collect data on impact, and provide regular reports to the Zonal Lead and Project Manager.
  • Advocacy and Communication: Advocate for the inclusion of traditional leaders in state decision-making processes related to health and education.
  • Risk Management: Identify and address risks related to the project’s implementation at the state level.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Public Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
  • 5-7 years of experience in community engagement, project management, or working with traditional leadership structures in Nigeria.
  • In-depth knowledge of the cultural and social dynamics of Southern Nigeria, particularly with traditional governance.
  • Proven experience in managing relationships with traditional rulers and local authorities.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in English and local languages spoken in the state.

Key Deliverables:

  • Strong partnerships with traditional leaders and other stakeholders.
  • Timely implementation of project activities that are culturally appropriate.
  • Comprehensive reports on state-level progress and impact.
  • Successful capacity-building initiatives for traditional leaders.
