PLANE is a 7-year, £95 million initiative funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) aimed at fostering a more inclusive and effective basic education system in Nigeria. The programme focuses on improving foundational skills in reading, writing, and mathematics, operating across Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, the SouthWest, SouthEast, and FCT.
Key Outputs of PLANE:
- Teaching & Learning: Implementing evidence-based teaching approaches and materials.
- Governance of State Systems: Enhancing planning, personnel management, and financial practices.
- Governance of Non-State Systems: Supporting the performance and management of non-state actors.
- Use of Evidence & Communication: Promoting evidence-based service delivery and citizen engagement.
Role Objective
The Results and Learning Manager will oversee routine data management and monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) activities. This role requires collaboration with state teams and stakeholders to ensure high-quality data collection, reporting, and capacity-building efforts within the Federal and Southwest locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead MEL framework implementation within the Federal and Southwest regions.
- Track programme performance, monitor logframe milestones, and document interventions for Federal and Southwest locations.
- Ensure quality data collection, analysis, and reporting, and prepare quarterly reports for stakeholders.
- Mentor stakeholders and programme staff to enhance MEL practices across regions.
- Coordinate quarterly progress reviews and ensure proper tracking of reported results with evidence.
- Provide technical support to MEL working groups, contribute to evaluation plans, and promote knowledge sharing through collaboration with the Communications Team.
- Support the adoption of ICT tools and digital technologies for data collection and analysis.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Monitoring & Evaluation, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related fields.
- Experience: 7-10 years in MEL, with experience in large-scale education programmes.
- Skills: Proficiency in data analysis (both qualitative and quantitative) and familiarity with ODK, SurveyCTO, Kobo Toolbox, and dashboard tools like Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience in mentoring staff.
- Knowledge of FCDO-funded programmes and ICT tools for data management is an advantage.
