The ASPIRE project focuses on achieving HIV epidemic control through the delivery of high-quality services to people living with HIV in FCT, Nasarawa, and Rivers states. This includes mentorship and technical assistance to healthcare facilities to improve outcomes and ensure sustained epidemic control.


Role Overview:
The Program Officer will be responsible for day-to-day program implementation, technical assistance, and mentorship to facility staff on the ASPIRE project. This includes overseeing data assistants’ activities and ensuring effective delivery of HIV care and treatment services in FCT, Nasarawa, or Rivers State.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Strategies Implementation/Technical Assistance:

    • Lead daily implementation of care and treatment services at supported facilities.
    • Provide mentorship to facility staff on HIV testing, enrollment, and adherence counseling.
    • Coordinate services for prevention of mother-to-child transmission and other specialized care.
    • Monitor and manage ARVs, consumables, and lab commodities.
  2. Leadership and Cluster Representation:

    • Oversee the activities of data clerks and surge monitors.
    • Represent the cluster team in review meetings and lead problem-solving sessions.
  3. Workstream Management:

    • Lead specific program workstreams and ensure achievement of qualitative and quantitative targets.
    • Track progress and address gaps in workstream implementation.
  4. Data Reporting:

    • Support facility focal persons in updating and maintaining program databases.
    • Ensure accurate reporting of program indicators and commodity stock management.
  5. Other Responsibilities:

    • Engage stakeholders to foster strong relationships.
    • Participate in joint learning sessions and provide updates on activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Allied Health, or a related field with an outstanding academic record.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years in public health program implementation, with HIV program experience preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
