Currently active in Nigeria and expanding to several West and Central African countries, our client is assembling a world-class team to support the eradication of polio through impactful campaigns and interventions.
Purpose of the Role
The Polio OBR Program Support Consultant will provide expertise in the planning, coordination, and monitoring of polio outbreak response campaigns. The consultant will play a key role in improving the quality of campaigns by:
- Supporting robust planning and coordination systems.
- Conducting data analysis to enhance campaign strategies.
- Facilitating knowledge transfer to ensure long-term sustainability.
The consultant will work closely with the national GPEI coordinator and may also be deployed to sub-national levels to support provincial GPEI teams.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and Coordination
- Conduct situational analyses of coordination structures and develop improvement plans.
- Support the GPEI coordinator in setting up and strengthening sub-technical working groups at the sub-national level.
- Facilitate daily and weekly coordination meetings, including preparing discussion documents, taking meeting notes, and tracking action items.
- Conduct risk assessments, identify challenges, and propose mitigation strategies to ensure campaign success.
- Draft chronograms of activities and prepare relevant campaign deliverables.
Data Analytics and Documentation
- Support data quality efforts, including cleaning and validation of campaign data (preparedness dashboards, ODK, PowerBI, administrative coverage).
- Conduct daily analysis of campaign data to identify underperforming areas and root causes, developing tailored improvement plans.
- Assist in developing and tracking Quality Improvement Plans, ensuring their accuracy and quality.
- Collaborate with the data management team to develop electronic data collection systems, visualization tools, and dashboards.
- Conduct data analytics and GIS mapping tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Education: Relevant graduate-level degree in International Development, Applied Sciences and Technology, Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Management, or related fields.
- Experience: At least five (5) years of country experience supporting planning and implementation of disease outbreak responses (e.g., Polio, Measles, Cholera) in Africa.
- Demonstrated project management experience with governments and/or international organizations.
- Strong project management, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in conflict-affected countries is an advantage.
