About the Role

The World Health Organization (WHO) is seeking a dynamic and skilled National Professional Officer (NPO) to join our team in Abuja, Nigeria. As part of the country office, you will support the monitoring of the Programme Budget (PB) implementation, ensuring full, appropriate, and timely utilization of grants. Your role will be pivotal in securing sustainable funding for country operations and ensuring accurate and timely reporting.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor fund flows, budget performance, and prepare weekly and ad hoc funds utilization status reports.
  • Track programmatic results for reporting and ensure effective communication between technical and administrative units.
  • Assist in providing clusters with adequate budgets for quality program delivery.
  • Review funding proposals and ensure proper documentation for funding actions.
  • Coordinate the preparation of operational budgets and contribute to program reports.
  • Build staff capacity in the use of Programme Management tools.
  • Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Education

  • Essential: University degree in accounting, budgeting/finance, public or business administration, or related fields.
  • Desirable: Professional certification in accounting or management.

Experience

  • Essential: At least one year of experience in administration/management of a complex program.
  • Desirable: Experience within WHO or the UN system in finance, accounting, or administration.

Skills

  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in common IT products (e.g., Excel).
  • Knowledge of budgeting and finance concepts.
  • Familiarity with WHO and/or UN procurement procedures.
  • Ability to synthesize data and produce reports for senior management.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: Starting at USD 30,795 annually.
  • 30 days of annual leave.
