Talent Lab is collaborating with our client on the MLE Malaria SNT project, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). This project aims to implement sub-nationally tailored (SNT) malaria interventions, focusing on developing a robust performance measurement framework to track malaria SNT milestones and outcomes. The goal is to utilize data for evidence-based decision-making among stakeholders and address the limitations of infrequent population-based malaria surveys in Nigeria. The project seeks to enhance malaria programming in Kano and Kaduna states.

 

Rationale:

The evaluation of sub-nationally tailored (SNT) malaria interventions requires local expertise. The LGA Field Consultants will provide essential technical support, guidance, and primary data collection for the evaluation project.

 

Role Summary:

The LGA Field Consultant will plan, implement, monitor, and report on evaluation strategies to ensure that malaria intervention data across all service areas within the LGA is accurately updated and reported. Each consultant will cover 3-4 LGAs, managing fieldwork, community data collection, and analysis, with guidance from the Senior Evaluation Lead and State Evaluation Leads.

Scope of work

Malaria Data Review:

  • Review documents and data on malaria SNT interventions.
  • Support monthly performance reviews for PHCs offering malaria services.
  • Conduct spot checks and supervision visits to health facilities.

Data Collection and Analysis:

  • Implement data collection methods, including surveys and site visits.
  • Prioritize data quality and address challenges in data collection.
  • Track and document malaria key performance indicators.

Field Deployment:

  • Support data collection and spot-checking processes.
  • Ensure settlements have geo-coordinates and tracking reports.
  • Assess health facilities’ capacity to provide quality malaria services.

Report Writing:

  • Report performance data and prepare comprehensive evaluation reports.
  • Summarize key findings, conclusions, and recommendations.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Facilitate evaluation meetings and rank health facilities.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather input, validate findings, and disseminate results.
  • Conduct consultations and utilize leadership for necessary approvals.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Health, Social Sciences, Data Management, or Statistics.
  • Experience in malaria/PHC system strengthening and health projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, data collection platforms (e.g., DHIS2), and GIS mapping is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, organization, planning, and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English and local languages.
Other Requirements
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned LGA.
  • Own a laptop and Android phone.
  • Familiarity with local health systems and malaria programs is an advantage.
